Be Amazing
I think I have many amazing, awe inspiring friends. I think that everyone I know has admirable qualities. Some are genuinely kind. Some are talented. Some are knowledgeable. All of them have qualities I admire. I have some friends who are funny, some who have good taste in music. I know some who are runners and some who are bikers. I know some who are very fit and some who are excellent cooks.
One of the most inspiring people I have ever known was adventurous, hard working and creative. She always made delicious desserts and had lovely handwriting. She was my Oma. Not a day goes by that I don't think of and miss her. Another one is organized, focused and thoughtful. She has a neat and tidy home, like one you might see in a magazine, always photo ready, even if she doesn't think so. She's handy with a sewing machine and a hammer. She makes the best homemade salsa I've ever had and the best beef jerky. She's my mom and she is industrious and I admire so much about her.
My point is that lately a lot of people have been telling me that I am amazing or inspiring. That's great! Glad to be of service. It's an honor and a privilege to be thought of in esteem by people that I hold dear. But I want you to know that I think you're pretty great, too! I truly admire my runner friends. I don't aspire to be them or as fast or as thin. I would have no one other than my mother pack a parcel or a suitcase or a house! She is the most organized person I know and I am not half as organized as she is. My sister is a personal trainer and Zumba instructor with her own studio in Germany. I love her and am SO proud of her, but I don't envy her.
Each one of us is gifted in different ways. Even though we are all human beings, we are all special in different ways. We are different, but the same. We have each other to balance us all out. Like parts of a body, some of us are hands, some feet. Some of us are ears, some are eyes. We each have different functions and attributes, but together we make a whole. We are created to be different.
I just want to be the best me I can be. I have secretly, deep down in my heart of hearts, wanted to run for some time. Even when I weighed well over three hundred pounds, I would sometimes listen to music and hear a song that just made me feel like running like the wind. The only thing that kept me from running was my own doubt. I didn't believe I could do it. Now, I know I can.
If there is something that you want to do, do it. Give it your all. Do it because you can. I know a lady who was afraid of heights, but it was on her bucket list to go skydiving. She did it. Then she went back and did it again. She found that she enjoys it. Good for her. I think that's great. It's not for me, though. I think that whatever it is that you want to do, you should do. Learn to knit. Write a book. Run a marathon. Bake a pie. Can some jam. Plant a garden. You might not be good at it. You might be awesome. You won't know until you try. Be the best possible version of yourself. Grow. Live. Be.
