2016 is Nearly Over

2016 is nearly over and I didn't do most of what I had intended to do this year.

Here's what I have from the first blog posting of this year:

I didn't get completely decluttered, but over the year managed to rid our home of at least 12 bags of rubbish.

I will probably try doing the Declutter 365 again this year.  After the first month, I didn't fare too well.

I didn't buy as much yarn as I could have, but I didn't really stick to my yarn diet, either.

I didn't finish any WIPs.  Not one.

I went to the gym very sporadically, but in the last two months of the year, I was more consistent.  I have a good feeling about next year.

I think I managed to overall eat more healthfully, but there is much room for improvement.

I had several planners and/or agendas I never filled to justify having purchased any of them.

I ate out way too much and after my uncle moved away, I didn't even make family dinner each weekend.

I spent some time today working on goals for 2017.  I've come up with 6.  I think these 6 are doable.

1) Work on taking items of minuscule value less seriously.

Method:  Use this mantra:  Will it matter a month from now?  Probably not.

2)  Increase physical fitness.

Method:  Work out 30 minutes x 5 per week.

3)  Improve health through diet.

Method:  Limit diet for first 6 weeks of the year to plant based foods with the exception of chicken breast and eggs.  After 6 weeks, see what has changed and work on removing all animal based foods.

4) Read the Word

Method:  Follow the Bible in One Year Plan.  Do your best to stick to it.

5)  Finish three WIPs.

Method:  Choose three WIPs from your Ravelry queue and work each until finished.
  1. Bamboo Socks
  2. Howlcat for MM
  3. Blossom Toes

6)  Read one book per month from your bookshelf.

Method:  Choose one book per month.  Read a bit each day.  Write a blog entry at the end of the month about the experience of reading the book and what you learned from it.

In looking at these items, it has occurred to me that these are all habits that need building.
