Day One of the Rest of My Life
If you haven't heard it yet, I'd recommend you listen to the song "Day One" by Matthew West. He explained the inspiration for the song to be all those times we start a new thing, new habit, workout plan, diet, fill in the blank. We keep score. We keep track. We pride ourselves on staying on track.
Today is my seventh anniversary of being smoke free. I am happy about it. I am happy I haven't reverted back to that bad habit. It was a habit that was smelly at the least and largely unhealthy. I almost slipped a year and a half ago because of a stressful time.
We all have weaknesses and none of us is perfect. Part of this project will be taking a selfie on the daily, not positioning myself in order to hide flaws. Another step will be doing good things for myself to help me be the best me I can be. The most important step will be to choose an inspirational or thought provoking bible verse each day to remember where I want my focus to be.
Today I chose James 4:11-12English Standard Version (ESV)
11 Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.[a] The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.12 There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
I am no one to judge.
